Ayodhya verdict: Allahabad High Court says divide land in 3 ways
Lucknow: Sixty years after it first went to court, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has pronounced verdict on the Ayodhya title suit. Senior advocate and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad emerged from court today to say that the three-judge bench had ruled in a majority judgment 2:1, that one-third part of the disputed land should be given to the Sunni Waqf Board, one-third to the Nirmohi Akhara and one-third to the party for 'Ram Lalla'. Prasad represents one of the litigants. (Watch: It's an astonishing judgement, says Supreme Court advocate Rajeev Dhawan) Ravi Shankar Prasad claimed the court had ruled that the place where the idol of Ram was kept was the birthplace of the deity and the idols should not removed. (Watch: Sunni Waqf Board's suit dismissed, says lawyer).Prasad claimed that the court had asked for a status quo for three months and in that time the litigants had to decide how to split the party. (Read: Ayodhya dispute timeline). Litigants emerged from the courtroom with copies of the judgment and there has been chaos outside the Lucknow court ever since. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court comprising Justice S U Khan, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice D V Sharma, delivered the judgment today. (Watch: The background to the Ayodhya dispute) The dispute at hand is about whether the 2.7 acres of disputed land on which the Babri Masjid stood before it was demolished on December 6, 1992, belongs to the Sunni Central Waqf Board or to the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha. It has been a protracted legal battle, and people across the country have spoken in one voice on the need to maintain peace and harmony irrespective of the verdict.

Kasab challenges death penalty in High Court
In a fresh development in the 26/11 terror attack case, Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab on Tuesday filed an appeal in Bombay High Court challenging death penalty awarded to him for killing 166 persons on November 26, 2008.
"We have filed an appeal today," his lawyer Amin Solkar told PTI.
Kasab has challenged death penalty saying it was a harsh punishment imposed on him and pleaded that there were lapses in evidence produced by police in the trial court. The appeal has challenged identification of Kasab in the court saying the eye witnesses had easily identified him because his photograph had appeared prominently in newspapers and television on the day of attack. The appeal also challenged trial court's ruling which upheld Kasab's confession as "true and voluntary", Kasab's lawyer said. The appeal would be heard by High court along with the matter pertaining to confirmation of death sentence awarded to him.The court has decided to hear both matters on a day-today basis from October 18 and allowed Kasab to appear through video conferencing.

RIM launches the PlayBook
In the end, the name was not the much-dreaded BlackPad, but the much smarter sounding PlayBook. When Research In Motion (RIM) co-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mike Lazaridis came on stage to announce the the new device, there were whoops of delight from the assembled crowd at the Moscone West Centre attending the BlackBerry DevCon annual event for developers. And Lazaridis decided to twist the knife much more into Apple, calling the PlayBook, the first 'enterprise ready' tablet and also touted its far more open standards, from the QNX (pronounced 'Kinnex') supported Adobe Flash 10.1 and had a dual-core processor with a gigabyte of RAM that allowed for multitasking (unlike the Apple iPad). And much like Apple had shunned Adobe's Flash platform, one of the first people that Lazaridis called on stage was Adobe Systems' CEO Shantanu Narayen, who heaped effusive praise on the new tablet. In terms of other specifications, the PlayBook will be only 9.7 millimeters thick and have a 7-inch screen. And while BlackBerry have tried to make the PlayBook the anti-iPad, they have copied one thing from Apple's design philosophy, a non-removable battery. There will be different colour options as was evident by the models on display and different storage capacities - a 16 gigabyte and 32 gigabyte model were on display. The device also has a HDMI-out port and a USB port. With a screen resolution of 1024x600 pixels, the device will be able to support full-HD movie playback. Multi-tasking will also allow the output from the HDMI-out port to be different from what is being shown on the screen.
But the marketplace that BlackBerry will be entering will be a crowded one, with Samsung also launching a tablet version of the Galaxy, and several other vendors also entering the market, not least of which is the Rs 1,500 tablet running Google's Android operating system that the government has developed for schools (though the design seems eerily familiar to a Chinese vendor's actual product). Yet, Lazaridis did make some promises that should have BlackBerry fans happy, the first is the ability to sync with BlackBerry devices and support for the popular BlackBerry Messenger service.
Research In Motion despite its problems in India with the government grumbling about certain services has had a bumper few quarters. In the April-July quarter, they sold 12.1 million devices, their most ever, and there are over 50 million active BlackBerry users around the world today. The BlackBerry Messaging service has 28 million active users and 1.5 million new users join the service every month, which made Lazaridis claim that it was the fastest mobile-based social network in the world. There was no definite launch date for the PlayBook announced for India, but RIM announced that the device will be available early next year in North America and by the middle of next year in all other international markets.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The line to see the PlayBook was a hundred deep, yet the device did initially live up to the hype. At 400 grams, it is fairly light, the screen is excellent, and despite the tablet form factor and the QNX underpinnings, it still feels like a quintessential BlackBerry. No pricing was announced, but the PlayBook looked very attractive indeed and if it comes with full support for Enterprise email and applications, it could end up dominating the office environment.

1999 Ind-Pak Super 6 match was fixed......
Cricket-crazy Pakistanis today said they felt "violated" and "betrayed" by reports that members of their beloved cricket team were involved in a fresh betting scam even as the sports minister pledged that any cricketer found guilty would face a lifetime ban.Pakistani vented their anger and frustration at the latest match-fixing scandal through comments posted on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook and popular blogs.Mehmal Sarfraz, the op-ed editor of a leading newspaper, said in a message posted on Twitter: "We, the fans, feel cheated, betrayed, violated."Reacting to blogger Adil Najam’s special post on "Match Fixing Scandal: Pakistan Cricketers Set to Lose Test, Series and Dignity" on his popular ezine "pakistaniat", a reader commented: "It's shameful and painful news…(It's a) betrayal towards the game and also towards our cricket-crazy nation."On a forum started on the website of the influential Dawn newspaper to debate the match-fixing "imbroglio, its implications and what the future holds for Pakistan cricket," a reader wrote: "In 1999 you broke my heart. But I was 16, and I learnt to love you again. I fear I am too old to love you again."All TV news channels began their hourly bulletins today with reports on the match-fixing scam that is now being investigated by ICC and Britain's Scotland Yard. The scam was exposed by the tabloid News of the World, which reported that bowlers Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif delivered three deliberate no-balls against England in line with the predictions of alleged fixer Mazhar Majeed.Majeed allegedly received £150,000 from the tabloid's undercover reporters posing as members of a gambling cartel. As Pakistanis aired their anguish, sports minister Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani promised that any player found guilty of match-fixing would face a lifetime ban as the matter involved the country's honour and dignity.Jakhrani said he had contacted Pakistan's high commissioner to Britain Wajid Shamsul Hasan and Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ijaz Butt, who had informed him that they were waiting for the reports of the ICC's anti-corruption wing and Scotland Yard.He said action could be taken only after these reports were received. "If any player or member of the management is found to be involved (in match-fixing), he will get the harshest punishment. No one will be spared. The guilty players will not be able to play again," Jakhrani told the media.Blogger Adil Najam wrote on his ezine "Pakistaniat" that the scandal "will not only bring further heartbreak and shame to Pakistan cricket fans but also wreck whatever little dignity is left in a team that is in tatters in terms of performance and, if these allegations are true, in morals too."Another blogger, Ayesha, devoted a post to the scandal. "I don't know where to begin from. It hurts when your beloved country features in all kinds of worst news. As if ministers' fake degrees scandal, perennial bombings, country's worst ever aviation disaster and flooding, Sialkot lynching weren’t enough to torment us emotionallyand psychologically, the serpent of match fixing in cricket raised its head again," she wrote.Former PCB chairman Arif Abbasi alleged that the board's officials too are involved in the scam.He questioned why Shoaib Malik was taken back into the national team despite his alleged involvement in match-fixing."No one is playing for the country," he said.

Blu-ray Disc
Blu-ray (not Blue-ray) also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a next-generation optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson). The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. This extra capacity combined with the use of advanced video and audio codecs will offer consumers an unprecedented HD experience.
While current optical disc technologies such as DVD, DVD±R, DVD±RW, and DVD-RAM rely on a red laser to read and write data, the new format uses a blue-violet laser instead, hence the name Blu-ray. Despite the different type of lasers used, Blu-ray products can easily be made backwards compatible with CDs and DVDs through the use of a BD/DVD/CD compatible optical pickup unit. The benefit of using a blue-violet laser (405nm) is that it has a shorter wavelength than a red laser (650nm), which makes it possible to focus the laser spot with even greater precision. This allows data to be packed more tightly and stored in less space, so it's possible to fit more data on the disc even though it's the same size as a CD/DVD. This together with the change of numerical aperture to 0.85 is what enables Blu-ray Discs to hold 25GB/50GB. Recent development by Pioneer has pushed the storage capacity to 500GB on a single disc by using 20 layers.
Blu-ray is currently supported by about 200 of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer, recording media, video game and music companies. The format also has support from all Hollywood studios and countless smaller studios as a successor to today's DVD format. Many studios have also announced that they will begin releasing new feature films on Blu-ray Disc day-and-date with DVD, as well as a continuous slate of catalog titles every month. For more information about Blu-ray movies, check out our Blu-ray movies and Blu-ray reviews section which offers information about new and upcoming Blu-ray releases, as well as what movies are currently available in the Blu-ray format.

Indian MPs get their pay more than 300%
We ordinary people are really fool or we are like Gandhi ji's 3 monkey. "Bura mat suno / Bura mat Dekho / Bura mat bolo" But still we should keep quite?????
India's cabinet has cleared a proposal to raise the salaries of members of parliament by more than three-fold.The MPs are currently paid 16,000 rupees ($345; £220) a month; they will now get 50,000 rupees. The government has also doubled MP office expenses and constituency allowances from 20,000 rupees. The Lok Sabha [the lower house of parliament] was adjourned as several MPs protested against the rise, which they said was inadequate. The members had demanded their pay be raised to at least 80,000 rupees, which is what senior bureaucrats are paid.Although the salary of the MPs has remained low compared to pay in the government and private sector, critics say the parliamentarians receive a number of perks. They are entitled to free flights, first-class air-conditioned train travel, free accommodation and several other benefits during their term.Critics also say the pay increase is unjustified at a time when the country is reeling under a double-digit inflation.

Kalmadi's Interview on Times Now 06.08.2010
Commonwealth Games Organizing Committee (CGOC) chairman Suresh Kalmadi declared on Friday that there was no question of his resignation in the wake of allegations of financial irregularities in the Oct 3-14 Games. "Everything is going on fine and I am not quitting. No question of my resignation arises with just two months left for the Games. But after the Games, if the IOA (Indian Olympic Association), Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi (Congress president) feel that I should step down for any inquiry, I am ready to do so," said Kalmadi, who is the IOA president. Kalmadi also said that the three-member probe panel, looking into the allegations of financial irregularities related to the Queen's Baton Relay in London, heard M. Jayachandran, director general (finance and accounts). Jayachandran was one of three officials suspended by the executive board on the basis of the report submitted by the probe panel. On the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report, Kalmadi said: "It is true that some venues are still not ready. While taking over the stadium we will make sure that everything is in place. Eleven stadium have been taken over and by the weekend most stadium will be taken over." Kalmadi also hoped that this time India would finish third in the Games. "Last time around the Indian team got 50 medals and came fourth in the games. This time we expect to come third with 70 medals. We can come second as well. The Prime Minister has given Rs.7 billion for the training of the athletes and the training is going on fine," he said. Kalmadi also said that the Games Village will open for athletes in 40 days. "When the athletes arrive, we need to arrange everything for them from the time they land here till they leave. We have to give them hospitality. There will be cultural games happening at the games village. Security was a major issue earlier, but the perception has changed now."

CWG 2010 in India to cost approx 18 times more than the Melbourne Games
Expressing complete shock and dismay regarding the “RETICENCE AND SULKING OF SMT. SONIA GANDHI AND THE PRIME MINISTER” about the inordinate delays and slippages in the preparations for the Commonwealth Games, Vijay Goel, All India General Secretary and Former Union Minister for Sports, Government of India says “the cost of the Games had astronomically shot up by 1500% from the initial assessment .This is a matter of very serious economic irregularity. The Ministry of Tourism of UPA Government, in one of its reports, has estimated that the Commonwealth Games 2010. While in 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games 14.63 Million USD, in CWG 2006 at Melbourne USD 1 billion while CWG 2010 in India(Delhi) it would cost approximately 18 times more than the Melbourne Games, which is rather very surprising. It will cost Rs. 87,000 crores to our exchequer. Just to cite one example, initially only Rs.132 Crores were assessed to be spent on stadium. This has now soared to Rs. 3389 crores. Prime Minister may like to get these figures verified by his office, through any source that he may deem appropriate. It is a tragedy that in the name of speedy construction, many procedural requirements have been blatantly violated, e.g. tender and bidding system.”Goel has reminded the Prime Minister that there were only 70 days left for these Games to commence. But the whole city of Delhi still lies totally excavated. What really is baffling the citizens of Delhi is the total negative reporting of media about the Commonwealth Games.Further he said “let corrupt officials not ‘make the hay while the Games shine’. All economic anomalies must be inquired into properly and corrective measures taken. Let the responsibility be fixed on those, who have ‘slipped’.”He also blamed the Government for not taking any political party (UPA apart) into confidence either in conceptualization or in planning or in the monitoring process of the preparations for these Games.
